Nonogram
ExpertAbout expert nonograms
Expert nonograms use 10×10 to 15×15 grids with 40–60% fill and up to 6 clue groups per line. The 15×15 grids are large enough that you can't hold the whole puzzle in your head. You need a systematic approach.
Multi-step deduction chains are the distinguishing feature at this level. Filling one cell triggers a sequence: that cell constrains its crossing line, which resolves another cell, which constrains a third line, and so on. Recognizing when a deduction chain is forming and following it through is what separates expert solvers from hard-level ones.
Disciplined X-marking is critical. On a 15×15 grid, losing track of which cells you've eliminated leads to wasted effort or errors. Mark X on every cell you can prove is empty, every time. The auto-strikethrough on completed lines helps — when a line's clues are crossed out, X-mark everything else in that line.
Expert is the last level before Einstein, which adds logic-only certification. If you can finish expert puzzles without hints, you're ready.
