Killer Sudoku
MediumAbout medium killer sudoku
Medium killer sudoku drops your given digits to between 10 and 19, and cages grow up to 4 cells. The extra cage size multiplies the number of valid digit combinations, so you can't just memorize answers anymore. You have to actually think about which combinations fit the surrounding constraints.
Hidden singles matter here. A hidden single is a digit that can only go in one cell within a row, column, or box, even though that cell has multiple candidates. You find these by writing down candidates for a group of cells and noticing that a particular number only appears once. Pair this with cage-sum elimination, and most medium puzzles open up.
The combinations reference is worth bookmarking at this level. When you hit a 4-cell cage with sum 22, it saves time to look up the valid combinations rather than figuring them out from scratch each time. Once medium feels routine, move to hard.
